The Zen Den is a "finished shell". It will serve as an off-grid meditation, yoga, and healing space for the client. The house was built to have ample natural light, an open feel, and all natural components. A wrap around deck gives breathtaking views of the North Georgia mountains. The house is also wheelchair compliant, with a ramp, 36" entry door, and 6' sliding glass doors.
The exterior is pine and cedar board and batten, while the interior has tongue and groove pine walls and ceiling, along with a stranded bamboo floor. While there is no electricity, the house is still insulated to regional guidelines, and boasts double-paned thermal windows and doors. A rigid metal roof drains rainwater into gutters that feed a rain barrel, where it will be used to water plants and flowers.
Interior dimensions are 10'x12'. Walls are 9 feet tall, allowing most adults to fully stand in the 50 sq ft loft. The stairs are capable of being ascended and descended without a handrail, and offer ample room for foot placement. A built in set of shelves is integrated into the stairs.
This shell can be configured into a fully livable space, with a kitchenette and lavatory, where zoning laws permit. Base price for a similar space (deck and finished floor are additional) is $22,000. Additional fees for an un-level building site.
